Anthony Hutchinson is the Director of Government and Industry Relations, within the Corporate Communications and External Relations Division of Freddie Mac. Mr. Hutchinson brings more than 20 years’ experience and a wealth of knowledge about the inner-workings of Congress and the Executive Branch as well as a deep understanding of housing industry to his current position.
Mr. Hutchison has helped shaped public policies critical to the housing industry, including the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Law, and the subsequent Qualified Mortgage and Qualified Residential Mortgage rulings, which ensured that homeownership remained affordable and accessible for all qualified homebuyers.
Prior to joining Freddie Mac, Mr. Hutchinson represented the views of more than one million REALTORS® as the Senior Policy Representative for Financial Services for the National Association of REALTORS®, the nation’s largest professional trade association, for more than five years.
Before that, Mr. Hutchison served in several critical positions at Fannie Mae for more than 10 years, including market intelligence for Fannie Mae’s Partnership Offices, managing the Emerging Markets effort in the Baltimore MSA, Product Development, Manufactured Housing Portfolio and was a Customer Account Manager for the mortgage lender’s cooperative organizations.
He began his career in the housing industry at the National Association of REALTORS®, the first time he worked there, as a Senior Market Researcher, which was part of the Research and Economics Group. Here he developed a keen understanding of how research and data impacts public policy.
Mr. Hutchinson has a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) degree in Geography from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Master’s of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of Maryland, University College.
